Embracing Diversity: ICM-IDS Student Exchange Program 2025
07 February 2025

The 2025 Student Exchange Program warmly welcomed students from the Islamic Sciences Demonstration School (IDS) to ICM, marking the beginning of an enriching cultural and educational journey. The program commenced with a heartfelt opening ceremony, where the ICM High School Vice Principal extended a warm welcome to the IDS students. The event was further enlivened by an impressive Pencak Silat performance by ICM students, showcasing Indonesia’s rich martial arts heritage. Following the ceremony, the IDS students were divided into four groups, each paired with an ICM buddy who served as their tour guide. As they explored the ICM environment, visiting the dormitories, sports hall, and library, many were struck by the school's spacious grounds and excellent facilities. One of the IDS student even shared her admiration for the friendly and helpful ICM buddies, expressing how much she loved being part of this new environment.

After Dhuhr prayer and lunch, the day continued with hands-on learning sessions, offering an exciting blend of science and tradition. IDS students enthusiastically participated in building water rockets, learning the mechanics behind their launch. They also had the unique opportunity to make tape (fermented cassava) and brew wedang jahe, a traditional Indonesian ginger drink. Through these activities, they not only discovered the local ingredients but also experienced the joy of cooking traditional delicacies themselves. These interactive sessions encouraged collaboration, creativity, and cultural appreciation, strengthening the bond between IDS and ICM students through shared experiences and teamwork.

On the second day, the program extended beyond the ICM with an educational trip to Monas (National Monument). At the top of Monas, IDS students marveled at the breathtaking panoramic view of Jakarta through binoculars, taking in the city's grandeur. They also captured beautiful moments with Istiqlal Mosque as their background, symbolizing the rich history and cultural heritage of Indonesia. During their visit, they delved into Indonesia’s historical milestones, gaining insights into the nation's past and its significance. The trip was not only informative but also an unforgettable experience that deepened their understanding of Indonesia’s heritage.

With six more days ahead, the excitement continues to build. IDS students will embark on more adventures, cultural explorations, and engaging activities, further strengthening their connections with ICM and Indonesia. As new friendships blossom and knowledge expands, this exchange program promises to be an unforgettable journey of learning, discovery, and cross-cultural appreciation.
