The theatre serves as a form of artistic expression and a means of communication that is widely utilized by various countries. Its popularity, particularly in Western nations, continues to grow as trends evolve. The public has increasingly embraced theatre, recognizing its value as a medium for self-expression, education, and entertainment.
At Sekolah Insan Cendekia Madani (ICM), theatre performances are integral to the PDD Art (Professional Development Day) program. This program is specifically designed for eighth-grade students at ICM Middle School and is included in the art curriculum. Each year, a theatre production is presented as part of this program. In the current year, ICM Middle School showcased Al-Haami, which stands out as the first theatre production to incorporate three languages: Indonesian, Arabic, and English.
Abrar Alifian Epsa, the Chairman of PDD Art, provided insight into the significance of Al-Haami. He explained that the title is derived from the Persian language, where it translates to "shield." Al-Haami narrates the story of Nusaibah bint Ka'ab, who earned the nickname "the Shield of the Prophet." Additionally, HAAMI is an acronym that represents the phrase "Harapan Akan Memperkuat Islam (Hope Will Strengthen Islam)."
Through Al-Haami Theater, audiences experience a profound exploration of the meaning of life. The production portrays the journey of Nusaibah Bint Ka'ab, a Muslim woman who overcomes numerous challenges during times of war. Her unwavering dedication to fighting in the name of Allah, sacrificing her time and energy, serves as an inspiration.
The implementation of the program involves a series of steps that all students must go through. These steps include auditions, script writing and reading, song creation, prop preparation, rehearsals, performances, and evaluations. According to Syifa Fauziah Anggraeni, the theatre director of Al Haami, students are encouraged to join a division that aligns with their interests and talents. This allows for optimal learning and creates pleasant memories.
The hard work put in by the students paid off when the event concluded at the Titan Center - Bintaro on January 14, 2023. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause, which was a testament to their efforts. "I felt proud because everyone gave it their all. After the event ended, I even shed tears because I was worried about the audience's reaction. However, it turned out that we received a lot of praise," said Ufaira Syadza Dzikrina, the main actor. With three months of training and the dedication put into the process, it became something we could all be proud of. Al-Haami truly represents us!
When asked about the benefits of this program, students emphasized the importance of gaining new experiences. They had the opportunity to learn dialogue, practice sword skills, express themselves in public, collaborate with others, and build chemistry with their fellow actors. These new experiences have enriched their learning journey and have helped them grow as individuals.
Overall, the implementation of this program has provided students with a platform to explore their talents, develop new skills, and create lasting memories. It has been a journey filled with hard work, dedication, and growth. The success of the event at the Titan Center - Bintaro is a testament to the student's commitment and passion for theatre.
