Empowering Sustainability, Grade 10 Students' Mid-Semester Project
19 September 2024

Grade 10 students at our school recently undertook a commendable initiative as part of their mid-semester assignment, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainable living awareness. In an effort to actively contribute to environmental conservation and eco-conscious practices, they dedicated their time and effort to various impactful activities.

One of the focal points of their project was river tracing, wherein the students participated in the meticulous study and exploration of the natural biodiversity along the Cisadane River. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate ecosystem and the significance of preserving and protecting it.

In addition to river tracing, the students also dedicated themselves to waste sorting, recognizing the crucial role of responsible waste management in preserving the environment. By actively engaging in this activity, they demonstrated their commitment to reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable waste disposal practices.

Furthermore, the students took part in planting trees along the river, acknowledging the pivotal role of forests in maintaining ecological balance and mitigating environmental degradation. Their efforts in tree planting serve as a testament to their dedication to fostering a greener and healthier environment for present and future generations.

A particularly noteworthy element of their project was the release of fish into the Cisadane River. By contributing to the rejuvenation of the river's aquatic ecosystem, the students echoed their dedication to preserving natural habitats and promoting biodiversity conservation.

In this activity, ICM students collaborated with Bangsasuci (Bank Sampah Sungai Cisadane), an organization dedicated to environmental sustainability. This collaboration provided them with tangible, real-world experiences and reinforced their understanding of the practical applications of sustainable practices.

The exemplary efforts of our Grade 10 students serve as a testament to their dedication to sustainable living and environmental conservation. Through their active participation in experiential learning activities and collaboration with external organizations, they have showcased their unwavering commitment to positively impacting the environment and the broader community.
