10 ICM Students Engage in Leadership and Da'wah Training at New York Mosque
08 April 2016

Sekolah Insan Cendekia Madani has dispatched ten students to the United States for two months to participate in the Global Leadership Program. During their stay in America, the students will partake in diverse leadership programs conducted by the foundation established by the Grand Imam of the New York Mosque, Syamsi Ali.

Muzayyin Arif, Managing Director of Sekolah Insan Cendekia Madani (ICM), confirmed their departure on Friday (8/4). This program is a collaborative effort between ICM and Nusantara Foundation based in New York, USA.

"Our students will undergo training to cultivate leadership skills and learn to engage with global society, fostering the advancement and development of their thought paradigm," stated Muzayyin, who is actively involved in the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI), in a press release received by Republika.co.id.

Muzayyin emphasised that the Global Leadership Program is a tangible realisation of ICM's vision and mission to nurture future leaders with a global perspective. The program aims to groom young leaders who are prepared to engage on the international stage. "Our objective is to cultivate exceptional future leaders through this program," he added.

In addition to leadership skills, participants of the Global Leadership Program will also receive training in da'wah. The Nusantara Foundation will impart knowledge on the dynamics of Islam in the Western context.

Notably, the institution established by a prominent figure from South Sulawesi serves as a representative missionary institution, acting as a principal bulwark against the prevalent Islamophobia in this influential country.

Previously, the American Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Robert O Blake, extended support for organising this program. This support was extended during the reception of the Global Leadership Program participants at the residence of the American Ambassador in Jakarta.

During the event, Mr. Robert expressed his hope that the participants would actively communicate with American society, showcasing the friendly Indonesian culture and embodying the gracious teachings of Islam.
