ICM Flying to Jordan
05 March 2023

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly influenced the school system, including reduced opportunities for students to participate in comparative study tours. Seeing good progress near the end of the epidemic curve, Sekolah Insan Cendekia Madani (ICM) continued its history of overseas comparative study visits.

By cooperating with the EWAN Institute of Jordan as a strategic partner, ICM students travelled to Jordan for a month (November 5, 2022 - December 6, 2022) to study Qur'an and Arabic in depth.

"Jordan is the heart of an old civilisation, one of the Middle East's educational hubs, with a significant Islamic influence. The primary goal of this Jordan trip is to deepen knowledge and develop Arabic communication skills, which will be taught directly by native speakers. This activity is accompanied by memorising the Al-Qur'an, one of the focuses of the one-month learning package there," said Mohamad Husni, Director of Students Life at Sekolah Insan Cendekia Madani.

In this activity, students are welcome to visit several historical locations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the voyage of Islam, including Amman Citadel, Washtul Balad, Royal Automobile Museum, Umm Qais, Pilgrimage of Prophet Yusa and Shuaib, and the most iconic site in Jordan, namely Petra.

Thoriq Akbar Al-Ghani, one of the ICM students who participated in the trip, told us his story about how participants also noted cultural distinctions between Jordan and Indonesia. "Jordanians strongly respect Friday. Before conducting Friday prayers, they stay at home to pray," said Thoriq.

Salsabilla Nurramdhan Putuanda also stated that Jordanians are very respectful of others, friendly, and honest. She explained that the stuff she left behind at the public eating establishment was not lost and had been adequately cared for when she returned.

Before embarking on an educational journey to Jordan, ICM had already visited England, the United States, Thailand, and Japan. This series of Student Immersion programs was developed to supplement the school curriculum, allowing students to obtain new ideas and perspectives. This program assists kids in obtaining new perspectives on learning, boosting their self-esteem, perfecting their language skills, making new friends, studying new cultures, and travelling to other countries.
