Fikri Fahmi Faruqi, alumni of ICM High School, Batch 7 (Saptadaskara), has embarked on a remarkable path that led him to pursue a double degree in law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Maastricht University. His decision to study law at these prestigious institutions was driven by his ambition to gain a well-rounded understanding of legal systems in both Indonesia and Europe. Fikri shared that this pursuit stems from his desire to understand not just the Indonesian legal system, but also the Dutch, German, French, and British legal frameworks, offering him an international perspective on law.

Now he is working in the legal division at Deloitte. Reflecting on his most exciting and challenging case, Fikri shared an experience that tested his skills and patience. While unable to disclose specifics due to confidentiality, he mentioned advising a client in drafting an agreement with a foreign entity. The negotiations for this agreement spanned nearly a year, with both sides frequently revising terms due to differing perspectives on the framework of the agreement. This case was a turning point for Fikri, as it not only deepened his understanding of the legal complexities involved in international agreements but also enhanced his negotiation skills. The prolonged process allowed him to work closely with his team, and the experience proved invaluable in strengthening his ability to navigate and resolve intricate legal challenges.

Fikri also shared how his time at ICM influenced his approach to studying and working in law. He credited the Islamic values instilled during his time at ICM for shaping his professional approach. A principle that has stayed with him is the importance of integrity and strong morals. For Fikri, maintaining high ethical standards in both his studies and his work is crucial, not only as a reflection of his commitment to being a good Muslim but also in building trust with clients.
