The stage may now stand in silence, yet the spirit of Karajan Kalangsewa continues to resonate. On January 17, at Titan Center Bintaro, Grade 8 students of ICM Middle School proudly presented a theatrical production titled Karajan Kalangsewa. The evening opened in a vibrant and dignified atmosphere with an opening speech by the Middle School Principal, Dr. Rahmat Zulfikri, followed by words of appreciation and expressions of gratitude to the sponsors who supported the production. These moments set a meaningful tone for the performance that followed.
After months of dedicated rehearsals and preparation, the Grade 8 students delivered an impressive theatrical experience that reflected not only artistic skill, but also strong teamwork and commitment. From the very first scene, the production captured the audience’s attention with its dynamic staging, expressive performances, and carefully crafted visual elements.
Karajan Kalangsewa draws inspiration from the values and struggles of Prince Diponegoro, presenting a story rooted in justice, courage, and resistance against oppression. Rather than merely retelling history, the play highlights moral strength, principled leadership, and the enduring spirit of unity in the face of adversity.
What made this production truly remarkable was the students’ involvement beyond the stage. The entire process was student-driven from developing the storyline and composing original theatrical songs, to designing merchandise and seeking sponsorships, allowing students to experience the realities of managing a full-scale production.
Through Karajan Kalangsewa, the Grade 8 students demonstrated that theatre can be a powerful platform for learning, self-expression, and collaboration. Their performance reflected maturity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the values embedded within the story they brought to life.
At the conclusion of the event, several parents shared their admiration and gratitude. They expressed amazement at how Grade 8 students were able to carry out a complete theatrical production with such dedication and professionalism, and conveyed their sincere appreciation to ICM for guiding and mentoring their children throughout this meaningful journey.
